I saw her singing at a little free pop-up concert during Mardi Gras, one block off Bourbon St in ‘98. This was around 6 months before her first single ‘Baby One More Time’ was released. Had no idea who she was. Just this super cute little girl about to walk away from us and onto this little stage set up in the middle of Royal St. But we recognized David Geffen leaning on the railing watching her sing, and knew she had to be something big.
